About Gary

cropped-Zandstra_casual.jpgGary started his audio career by starting a DJ business while still in High School.  During his college years he worked as a projectionist and then manager at what was the world’s largest movie theater at that time. He was the opening manager for the first Tri-Star joint venture theatre know as Star Theaters. 

Following college Gary joined the staff of one of the largest churches in West Michigan as technical director, this is where Gary’s passion for the local church began. Gary has also produced events for as many as 10,000 people.  He has been at front of house for some of the big names in Christian music. He even has been the front of house guy for a sitting president of the United States. During his tenure at Parkway Electric  Gary was involved in the sales and AV design of countless projects and churches.

Currently Gary continues to work in helping the local church through his work at Dan Vos Construction. Additionally, he writes for numerous trade magazines including Worship Facilities and  ProSoundWeb  the largest web portal for the audio industry. He co-founded NemoSyn  a company that was born out of the desire to solve a problem easily that hadn’t been solved yet. NemoSyns first product is a 32 channel virtual sound check recorder. He was also on the board of a tech startup that is proving micro GeLo location. Additionally he also started and launched  AVL Update a weekly podcast, ChurchTechTours, ChurchMixChallange and WestMichiganWorship.

Gary’s newest venture The Experience  gives him the opportunity to help the local church using his vast experience in facilities and production.
